Miguel Fuentes
Executive Director
Miguel has worked in the non-profit world for more than 24 years in various capacities and subjects. Since 2011, he has served in different positions at EPI.
His academic background includes studies in systems engineering, international relations, and he holds a M.Sc in international cooperation and project management from Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica and an MBA from EUDE Business School. In 2006, he founded the first digital government portal operated by civil society in Latin America. For two years, it remained the most visited site to search for public services online until it was transferred to the Government of Costa Rica. He served as advisor to the Presidency on issues of Digital Government, he is currently a member of the High Technology Advisory Foundation and a member of the IUCN Education and Communication Commission.
During his career, Miguel has worked in projects in the fields of Science & Technology, Environmental Conservation and Education, but his passion lies in the intersection of those three areas. This is why he found EPI’s educational and conservation model a perfect fit for his vision.
Miguel enjoys every spare moment he can with his wife and his two children. He also enjoys rafting and trekking.
