Jorge Torre
Development Director, Comunidad y Biodiversidad, A.C (COBI)
With over 30 years of experience in marine conservation and nonprofits, Jorge brings a wealth of expertise to EPI as a board member. While many conservation initiatives focus on current adult populations, Jorge was drawn to EPI due to its unique approach of empowering youth as the next generation of leaders. This forward-thinking mission motivated him to volunteer his time, recognizing it as an investment in a better future for all.
As a founding member of COBI, Jorge has dedicated much of his life to the field of marine conservation and sustainable fisheries research. Jorge actively promotes citizen/participatory science and has played a pivotal role in advocating for gender equality in fisheries decision-making processes.
Jorge believes in the importance of including local communities in conservation efforts. Recognizing the need for collective action, Jorge has worked towards creating inclusive initiatives that embrace the knowledge and participation of women and youth. We are thrilled to have Jorge and his passion for EPI's mission on the EPI board of directors!
